Welcome to a New Rotary Year

A new Rotary year brings new opportunities to serve, connect, and make a difference. As we begin this journey together, we also welcome the 2026–27 Rotary International theme, Create Lasting Impact, led by Rotary International President Yinka H. Babalola.

His message reminds us that lasting change happens when we work alongside our communities, invest in people, and focus our efforts where they can make the greatest difference. This year's priorities: growing our membership, ending polio, and building peace through service, reflect Rotary's commitment to creating meaningful change that continues long after a single project is complete.

Thank you to every member who gives their time, talents, and passion to our club. Together, we have the opportunity to create lasting impact in our communities, in the lives of those we serve, and within ourselves. Here's to another inspiring year of service above self.

 

Congratulations, District Governor Jeanette!

What a proud moment for the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield! We are thrilled to celebrate Jeanette as she officially begins her year as District Governor for Rotary District 5370.

Canada Day marked the start of an exciting new Rotary year, beginning with the unveiling of Edmonton's new Peace Pole and the celebration of the city's designation as an International City of Peace. The day also welcomed Rotary International Director Marty Helman as part of her Impact Tour: From Barrow to Bermuda, recognizing the incredible work Rotary clubs are doing across our communities.

As District Governor, Jeanette will lead the district under the theme Strong Clubs. Meaningful Impact. Peace in Action.

Jeanette's passion for service, community building, and bringing people together has been felt throughout our club for many years. We know she will inspire clubs across the district just as she has inspired us.

Congratulations, Jeanette! Your Mayfield family is incredibly proud of you, and we look forward to supporting you throughout this exciting year.

Next Meeting

At our next meeting, Jim Galpin, our new Club President, will share highlights from his recent trip to the Rotary International Convention in Taipei. Jim will reflect on his experience, key takeaways, and the inspiration he’s bringing back as we begin a new Rotary year.

Brightview School BBQ 

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered at our annual Brightview School BBQ Lunch! This event is always a fun and meaningful way to celebrate the end of the school year while connecting with the students, staff, and the Brightview community.

Your time, enthusiasm, and willingness to serve helped make the day a wonderful success. Thank you for making a difference. 

Thank You for Joining Our Changeover Dinner

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual Changeover Dinner. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship as we welcomed Jim Galpin as our new Club President and expressed our sincere appreciation to Arif Alibhai for his outstanding leadership and contributions over the past year.

The evening also gave us an opportunity to celebrate the impact of our club, share updates on projects supporting education, health, and clean water, and look ahead with excitement to the goals and opportunities of the new Rotary year.

It was a fantastic evening spent celebrating our members, our achievements, and the friendships that make our club so special.

Fork It Over 2026 – Oktoberfest Edition is just around the corner, and we can't wait to welcome our Rotary friends, family, and community for another unforgettable evening!

We're off to a great start with 32 of 175 tickets already sold. If you haven't secured your spot yet, now is the perfect time to do so. Please purchase your tickets early and help spread the word by sharing the event link with friends, family, and colleagues who would enjoy a fun night while supporting a great cause.

Lead with Seeds Needs Your Help

Roman, Susan and the Lead with Seeds team are looking for a new venue to host their annual fall fundraiser this November. With their previous venue no longer available, they are seeking recommendations and connections to businesses that may be interested in hosting or supporting the event.

They are looking for a venue that can accommodate 60–80 guests, with space for a wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, musical entertainment, and a silent auction. Donations or in-kind support from venue or catering partners would also help keep ticket prices affordable while maximizing the funds raised for their work in Honduras.

If you have a contact or know of a venue that might be a good fit, please reach out to Roman and Susan. Your connection could make a meaningful difference in the success of this important fundraiser.

Get Involved: Join a Committee This Year

Looking for a meaningful way to get more involved this year? Serving on a club committee is a great way to volunteer your time, learn new skills, and contribute directly to the work that moves our club forward. Committees offer a chance to collaborate, share ideas, and shape the projects and initiatives that matter most to our community.

Whether you’re new to Rotary or a long-time member, your perspective and energy are valuable. If you’re interested in joining a committee or want to learn more about the options available, please reach out. We’d love to have you involved.

We’re launching a new section on our social media channels to celebrate (and brag a little 😉) about the incredible members of our club and the unique stories behind their Rotary journeys.

We invite all members to share a Personal Expression Statement highlighting the impact Rotary has had on your life, and the difference you’ve made through Rotary. This is your chance to tell your story, your way, and inspire others along the way.
