Next Meeting
At our next meeting, we’ll welcome Ihor Kruk, International Services Chair for the Rotary Club of Sherwood Park, who will join us in person.
Ihor will share his experience volunteering with the Rotary Humanitarian Aid Mission in Ukraine in fall 2024, offering a firsthand look at Rotary’s humanitarian efforts and the impact of service in times of need.
Our meeting is held at the Chateau Nova Yellowhead. Come in the conference door and look for the banner. If you cannot come in person, please join us by Zoom: Meeting ID 780 222 3440; Passcode Mayfield.
Last Meeting Recap – Project Amigo

At our last meeting, Claire MacDonald, Program Manager of 24/7 Crisis Diversion with REACH Edmonton Council for Safe Communities, gave us an overview of the program and its role in supporting people experiencing crisis in Edmonton.
Claire shared how the program has evolved, the partnerships that make it possible, and how it continues to adapt to community needs. She also highlighted how data helps the team understand demand, measure impact, and guide decisions to strengthen the service.
Jasper Place Scholarship

Keesha Gaba was this year’s recipient of the Mayfield Rotary Club’s Service Above Self Award, a $1,000 scholarship recognizing her commitment to community service.
Keesha was selected for her strong community involvement and leadership at school, where she organized inclusive activities such as Karaoke lunches and the Best Buddies program. Her commitment extends globally through Model UN and locally through volunteering at the Hindu temple, creating art for Afghan refugees, and advocating for social change.
Originally from India, Keesha’s family has roots in Ghaziabad, where her father still lives. Coincidentally, Rotarian Marilyn Mucha participated in polio immunization efforts in Ghaziabad in 2010.
Now in her first year at the University of Alberta, Keesha is studying Design with a major in Mathematics and hopes to join Rotaract.
Supporting the Sinkunia Community Garden

Rose, Marilyn, Marilyn’s friend Andrea, and Issa volunteered at the Sinkunia Community Garden’s annual Fall Harvest on September 19.
Organized by the Sinkunia Community Development Organization, the event celebrated the season’s harvest and the community members who help grow and gather fresh produce. The garden supports cultural food security for African-descent newcomers in Edmonton, while creating opportunities for people of different ages to connect, participate, and share in the harvest.
Thank you to our members and volunteers for lending a hand and supporting this wonderful community initiative!
Get Involved: Join a Committee This Year
Looking for a meaningful way to get more involved this year? Serving on a club committee is a great way to volunteer your time, learn new skills, and contribute directly to the work that moves our club forward. Committees offer a chance to collaborate, share ideas, and shape the projects and initiatives that matter most to our community.
Whether you’re new to Rotary or a long-time member, your perspective and energy are valuable. If you’re interested in joining a committee or want to learn more about the options available, please reach out. We’d love to have you involved.
Members Anniversaries
We’re launching a new section on our social media channels to celebrate (and brag a little 😉) about the incredible members of our club and the unique stories behind their Rotary journeys.
We invite all members to share a Personal Expression Statement highlighting the impact Rotary has had on your life, and the difference you’ve made through Rotary. This is your chance to tell your story, your way, and inspire others along the way.
Please Use this link to submit your story. Or email Victoria directly with your story.
